Meet Iris Hantverk

Enskede, Sweden - 59°16'N 18°05'E

Every brush made by Iris Hantverk is handcrafted by visually impaired craftsmen. The Swedish company has roots going back to the late 1800s when an organisation was founded in Stockholm to encourage visually impaired people to actively participate in society and obtain equal access to employment.

Today, the core of the business is the brush binding manufacturing in Enskede, located just outside Stockhom, where 6 visually impaired craftsmen from different cultures make brushes according to an old Swedish tradition. Iris Hantverk also works with craftsmen from Estonia who have a history strongly connected to the visual impairments movement.

The company transferred ownership in 2012 to former employees who were glad to take over a company that holds so much history and tradition. They believe customers all over the world should appreciate the feeling and quality of a hand drawn brush made of natural materials.
